Judy O’Connell is a lawyer with Burbach & Stansbury. She focuses her practice on divorce, including custody and placement, child support, and post-judgment issues. She is a mediator for the Family Mediation Center and Milwaukee County Family Court Services and is frequently appointed by Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judges to serve as guardian ad litem for minor children. She is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® as “Lawyer of the Year” for Family Law Mediation (2019) and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in Family Law and Family Law Mediation. Judy was awarded an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest rating possible.

She is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and serves as a board member on the Dispute Resolution section of the state bar. She is a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association (Member, LRIS Committee, 2008-2016; Bench Bar Committee, 1993-present),  and Leander Foley Society of Family Lawyers.

Judy enjoys giving back to the greater Milwaukee community and currently serves as a Eucharistic minister and the president of the St. Vincent de Paul conference at Christ King parish in Wauwatosa. She also volunteers at the Milwaukee Justice Center’s Brief Legal Clinic and for the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter..
