Our Mission

The Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, Inc., is an association of professionals working together to teach, learn, practice, and promote family centered processes, using interdisciplinary teams, to respectfully resolve family law concerns including separation and divorce.

We are a not for profit association of  professionals promoting an alternative to the traditional court system. We believe that the confrontational and inefficient aspects of litigation harm families.

Our Focus

Members of CFLCW are trained to serve you and the family team, and they maintain their skills thorough ongoing learning and development. Members participate in the continuing education required of their respective professions, but also in related areas of family law such as tax and family financial topics, mediation skills, and communications.

Services

Elsewhere on this website are descriptions of the professionals that are able to assist you in reaching a solution for your family. The spectrum of Collaborative ranges from a single neutral mediator assisting you and your partner reach agreement, to a team of experts that guide you in more complex situations. Collaborative professionals may also consult with you in a limited way to review solutions you may have developed with your family. Only after your solution is developed and agreed upon,  do you “go to court” to seek finalization.

Clients

In every aspect of Collaborative in Wisconsin, clients play the major role in the process, the decisions and the outcome. Whether engaging a multi-disciplinary team, a mediator, a collaborative mediation team, or a consulting attorney, the process is client-driven. The process works with your active involvement and focus. The solutions are unique to you and your family.

Unique Solutions

Collaborative solutions are developed by clients, working with creative and  professionals dedicated to solving problems and devising plans unique to your situation. You should not rely on anecdotes and cookie-cutter compromises that undermine your collective futures. Collaborative moves away from the win-lose mindset of so many and toward what is a win for your family. You can craft unique arrangements for support and custody that make sense.
